Drumming 5.1 is a fascinating further development of analog drumming and percussion techniques in anticipation the coming post-digital age:
• The drum kit is combined with percussion instruments
• Open-handed playing
• Right- and left-handed (and "footed") techniques plus twin effects
• At times, up to five foot pedals can be played simultaneously
• Up to three drumsticks can be used with two hands
• Melodious, groovy, swinging, dynamic, innovative and very fast
• An analog technique with no electronic support.
As early as the 1970s TEASY laid the foundation for his almost acrobatic way of playing the drums. He started out playing the washboard to old jazz records and his brother Axel's boogie piano playing. He later developed a similar energetic style for his brushes technique on the drum kit.
Starting with old jazz, which he had absorbed from an early age, TEASY went on to study, learn and play almost all the chronologically following jazz styles, thus learning jazz from its roots. This approach laid the foundation for the development of Drumming 5.1 and TEASY's unmistakable style.
Interaction with such jazz greats as Buddy Tate, Harry Sweets Edison, Joe Pass and Plas Johnson has had a lasting effect on TEASY's profile as a drummer.
His persistent curiosity and absolute passion for playing music has always been a major source of momentum, pushing him forward to search for new forms of expression and technical refinements. In implementing his creative ideas he has not allowed classical academic rules to tie him down. He is thus forever creating new sounds, and he fuses old and new jazz styles, combining them with other, related music forms.
